Autumn Bliss

What can I give you today? You have all of me, all of my dreams interwoven with yours, all of my prayers and thoughts hovering around you, uncountable wishes for your well being strewn on the path; I've nothing I can give you today. Perhaps, I do have some stray words that unsuccessfully attempt to describe how much you mean to me. Something I can tell you better with the simple things we do together, like watching a movie with our fingers entwined, making an omelette or just lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling and talking about everything under the sun.

I love you. You breathe life into my existence.

Happy Birthday, my beloved Husband! :)

Love Letter #6

Dearest B

Let's run away. The hills are beautiful. We shall build a little cottage with a picket fence around. I'm sure SAP is interesting, so is Acinetobacter baumannii. But they are keeping us apart. The fast paced life is exhausting and not coming home to you compounds it. I'll not crib about it. Let's just run away and live one moment at a time. Let's be crazy together. Let's be happy together. I'll read out Byron's poems to you sometime, you read 'The old man and the sea' to me some nights. You, me and the books. It'll be a beautiful life. The dreamers will have longer, quieter nights to weave their dreams.

Yours Forever

Love Letter #5

Dearest B

Do you remember me being fascinated by a singing bird in the cardamom plantations of Munnar? I'd whistle with it and run to the balcony to have a glimpse of that elusive charmer. It is one of the most soothing sounds that have touched my soul. A gentle whistling in absolute silence.

Why am I talking about it today? Well, I was reading a collection of short stories by Ruskin Bond, 'Falling in love again', where he has mentioned the bird's name in umpteen places. Whistling-thrush... That's what is the beautiful, melodious bird called. And do you know what it sings? I'd like to quote some lines from the book, "Blackbird on the wing, bird of the forest shadows, black rose in the long ago summer, this was your song - It isn't time that's passing by, it is you and I'.

Beautiful lines, isn't it? That holds true only for the bird and us. When it comes to you and me, it's only the time that's passing by. We'll be here, there, everywhere; together, forever; you and I.

Chhena Poda

Chhena Poda, which literally means 'burnt cheese,' is a very popular sweet dish from the state of Odisha (eastern India). For all the curious readers, the details about this quintessential cheese dessert can be found online. Despite the title, this page too is about B, my husband. A beautiful memory got triggered while having the sweet tonight.

On a rain-kissed evening,
She sat by the window,
Day dreaming and sighing,
Watching the fireflies glow

I was a little disappointed because I was missing him and desperately wanted to see him. The rain has that effect every time. He lived in the other end of the city and had just got back from work so a request for a meeting would have been unreasonable. When he called, he immediately sensed my distress and asked, 'What'll make you happy now?' I said, 'Chhena Poda'. I love the sweet and was certain that it would be unavailable here in the southern part of the country. That was my way of telling him that I can't have the thing that'd cheer me up.

After an hour, I got a call from him again. He asked me to come outside. He stood there, smiling at me, holding a packet of 'Chhena Poda'. That instant, all the gloom just disappeared.

She ran into his warm embrace,
Planted a kiss on his cheek,
He looked around in a daze,
Like a little lamb, shy and meek.

We loped off across the road to a little eatery. It had begun drizzling again. All I did was stare at him with moist eyes and smile. How could he be so insanely perfect? I kept asking myself while relishing the 'Chhena Poda' that night. Well, that's something I still ask myself every day. He never ceases to surprise me. All his quirks, the way he showers his love is just divine. I am living my 'Happily Ever After' and am extremely grateful to the Universe for bringing us together.

If he reads this, he'll say, 'All she does the whole day is think about B'. Ah, well, I admit, I'm a little obsessed. Possessed, perhaps, would be a better word. Forgive me, but its only these memories that help me survive, with him so far away (6500 miles away).

Across the oceans
Wherever you are
In the distant land,
I'll be there,
To say, I love you,
In the midst of
The fields of dazzling colours...
Colours of our hearts
In deep meditation
Lost in the infinite space
It'll all be yours and mine;
Our time, our realm,
Our song, our dream...
A dance, a kiss,
The soul dissolving bliss.

Colours Of My Paradise

The yellow of the silent Autumns,
The grey of the floating clouds,
The blue of the gigantic oceans,
The green of the wet meadows,
The black of the fragrant nights,
The brown of his laughing eyes,
Splashed on its tranquil canvas,
Are the colours of my paradise.

Come Back...

Come back, my love, into my arms,
The longer it waits,
The gloomier it gets;
The heart breaks and sadness disarms

Come back, my love, stay close
There are dreams to share
A soul to bare
Come back, with a single red rose.

Come back, my love, time awaits
She needs to rest now
Regain her sparkling glow
Come back, we'll watch the sunsets.

Cloudless skies weep, shadows scream,
Rain ceases to charm
The sun isn't warm
Come back, you're this dreamer's dream.

The First Meeting!

He stood there, dressed in black. She, dressed in black as well, came rushing down the stairs to meet this enigmatic man. Eyes met. They then looked away, the lashes fluttering shyly. They smiled when they looked into each other again and the conversations began. Eyes talked of this life, the previous lives and of the time before that. They recognised each other.

As they began walking towards their destination, she felt a strange sense of peace within, a warmth she'd been wishing to feel for years. She loved the way he looked at her with his luminous loquacious eyes. He heard what she didn't say and she felt what he didn't do. They opened up to each other and then unlocked a world of their own, away from the chaos.

Thus began their story. The story of their journey together.

Love Letter #4

Dearest B

Days have been gloomy lately. I miss your presence, your warmth, your adorable, addictive smile... I miss sitting by your side with my head gently resting against your shoulder and talking incessantly about our quirks and dreams. I even miss the way you absentmindedly drum your little finger on your chin and the upper lip in an alternating way while you lie on your stomach, engrossed in a movie.

I understand, it's not the Victorian era where lovers at a distance would helplessly be waiting for a word from the faraway land. We talk, share umpteen pictures, uncountable messages everyday; why do I still find something amiss?  The answer is obvious.

This distance is essential, the world says. Acquiring knowledge and developing skills is important to survive and have a comfortable life. What's needed to be done, should be done without delay so that there's no space for regrets in the future. Ah, all the logic! It makes no sense to the dreamer.

She knows just one thing - Every bit of her loves you and will always love you.

Yours forever
