Change

A fractured piece of melody,
Lingers around, drifts away,
At times, it follows
Her essence to her core
Like a dark, haunting memory.

Tiny rivulets of pain cloud her sight,
She looks ahead, knowing
The dark will have its vengeance
For being abandoned,
For being destroyed by the light.

Black; she reminds herself tonight,
'Twas once her adored garb
Not unholy but infinite,
The color of vacuum.
She'll wait till the end of the night.

She smiles at the setting sun,
Breathing in the petrichor.
They lurk around,
The creatures of the night,
Intimidated, as she walks on.
